Travel to Dog Friendly Orlando Florida

Sharing is caring!

Disclosure: We visited Dog Friendly Orlando and part of trip was provided by many of the sponsors we mentioned in our post.

Florida is one of our most favorite places to visit. You might say it’s the Consumer King’s happy place.  The weather and the salt water in the ocean are just perfect for his AS.  Orlando has probably been one of our most traveled area’s in Florida, as we love that its basically the main hub for family entertainment.  One thing we really missed while visiting though, was our fur babies we left back home.  This year we have made it a point to plan more road trips as well as making sure we stay at pet friendly locations.  This is where Barkcations evolved into our blog.  On this particular trip, we decided to visit Dog Friendly Orlando, Florida and started our morning off at Chick-Fila for breakfast. As you can see Boomer was curious on where his sandwich was.

After sulking for a bit because mom tried to give him a treat instead of fast food, he ended up settling down and ready for the trip, only because he knew he would be the one that got to ride in moms lap.

Little did he know that his sister had other plans lol! Needless to say, I did not get any work done on the road.

Rosen Inn Pointe Orlando

We decided to split our trip into two different hotel properties to show how Dog Friendly Orlando is and so that we could compare the two.  Our first stop was the Rosen Inn Point Orlando.  The Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando brings you style and comfort at a budget-friendly price without sacrificing amenities or service.  They offer free gated parking, and you’ll never pay a resort fee with them.

All guestrooms have deluxe accommodations and access to many hotel amenities.  Wake up with Starbucks® coffee and fresh-made smoothies at Smoooth Java®.  Enjoy American cuisine at our buffet-style breakfast and dinner restaurant, the Plaza Garden, or pick up a snack at Lite Bite Mini-Market/Deli. Our onsite mini-market also sells drinks, sundries, and toiletries. Watch your favorite sports team with friends at Zebra’s Sports Bar & Grille over a late-night dinner and drinks, or come to sing karaoke.

Universal Bus (1 of 1)

Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando’s prime location has so much within quick access. World-class shopping, entertainment, and dining are a short walk away. SeaWorld®Universal Orlando Resort™, and Walt Disney World® are nearby. As a guest at a Universal Partner Hotel, enjoy free shuttle service to Universal Orlando, early admission to specific attractions at select theme parks*, and theme park and Universal CityWalk coupons.  We absolutely loved that we could pick up our tickets here at the hotel and not wait in those long lines at the park. This was a HUGE perk for us as well as the free shuttle they offered.

Shuttle services to Walt Disney World® theme parks can be arranged from the hotel through the on-site taxi provider Platinum Transportation. They also offer airport shuttle services. Contact them in advance of your arrival at PlatinumTransportation.com or by calling locally at (407) 492-8888 for quick service between the airport and hotel and Walt Disney World®. Those interested in shopping at the Orlando International Premium Outlet, we have free scheduled shuttle service to and from the hotel to this outdoor mall. For more information about all of our shuttle services, check out the Location &Transportation page.

We booked a room with 2 double beds instead of a king because our son was joining us on this trip. The rooms were very clean and the beds were very comfortable.

Rosen Inn Pointe Orlando Rooms

In the bathroom there was a microwave and a refrigerator which came in very handy for all of our snacks. Another big plus for us was the bathroom had both a shower and a tub. Many hotels these days only offer a shower. It’s very important for us to make sure we book a hotel with a bathtub because after a long day of activity we know that Daniel is going to have pain set in from his disease. Soaking in a good hot bath helps him relax for the evening and be ready for the next day’s activities.

Our room was on the backside of the hotel which I loved because I didn’t have to worry about our dogs bothering anyone. It was also located right next to the pet area where they offer potty bags and a nice section for the dogs to relieve themselves. Check out the pet policy here. The Royal Dogs felt completely at home here and we would definitely book another room here if we came back. It’s a great Dog Friendly Orlando hotel.

If you are looking to do some shopping, your in luck. There is a ton of shopping near by as well as several restauraunts. Make sure to also check out the outlet mall for some great deals.

Rosen Inn Pointe Orlando Boomer

We decided to go dinner at one of the restaurants across from the hotel one night.  As we round the corner, I see someone that looks like they are doing a photo shoot.  ConsumerKing stops us and says “That was Joey Fatone!”  So we decide to go back and sure enough it was him.  Ryan was speechless the rest of the night. He kept saying, I should have stopped and got his autograph. This was my son’s first celebrity siting in the wild lol.

One of the things we did before we left for our day is to make sure we ate a good breakfast. The Plaza Garden Buffet at Rosen Point Orlando has an amazing breakfast buffet. It includes everything you could imagine. Biscuits and gravy, eggs, bacon, sausage, Mickey waffles, but one of my favorites were the little donuts. I could have stuffed myself with these. They were so fresh and the powdered ones melted in your mouth.

They also offer a dinner buffet as well as quick bites in their convenient store.

Clarion Inn Lake Buena Vista

Conveniently located less than 2 miles from Disney Springs™ and the rest of Walt Disney World®, another Dog Friendly Orlando hotel is the Clarion Inn Lake Buena Vista is where you want to stay in Orlando, Florida. It’s surrounded by theme parks, entertainment venues, restaurants, shopping areas, and other attractions that the entire family can enjoy.  They offer free parking and free wifi which is a big plus for us when we travel and we chose this location because it was so close to Disney.

The hotel’s proximity to SeaWorld® (less than four miles) and Aquatica® is also ideal for guests wishing to spend a day or two away from the Disney® area. Equally close are other entertainment options on International Drive.

Clarion Inn Lake Buena Vista is a AAA 3 Diamond hotel with 640 guestrooms. The hotel underwent a multi-million dollar renovation that included a number of upgrades to the guestrooms and amenities.

Clarion Inn Lake Buena Vista Rooms

Both hotels offered these cute little signs to put on our door alerting the staff that our fur babies were running loose in the room. I was curious on how house keeping was going to work out but it was super easy. We just called and made an appointment for a time we would be at the hotel for them to come in and give us fresh towels etc.

Clarion Inn Lake Buena Vista Pets

All you had to do was put this on your door and you didn’t have to worry about the maids coming in your room with your fur babies sleeping in there!  If you needed anything housekeeping was only a phone call away! This was for the safety of the dogs getting out as well as the staff.

Rosen Pointe Orlando Chloe

One of my favorite things about the rooms was the chair located by one of the beds. For a little dog it’s hard to get up and down, and we didn’t have to worry about the dogs jumping down and hurting themselves.  It also provided them a great view out the window. View the pet policy here.

The great thing about both of the properties is that they are REALLY pet friendly. They don’t just allow pets, they welcome them.  I was kinda jealous.  Our dogs got presents at both places!

Rosen Inn Pointe Orlando Dog Treats

There is also plenty of places around town that are dog friendly.  Chloe and Boomer were really happy that we went shopping at the local TJ Maxx and Home Goods because we found them a new Rae Dunn dog bowl!

Safari Wilderness

Wilderness Safari is an amazing place!  They have a lot of acreage that is home to a wide variety of animals. They offer bus safaris, a camel expedition, kayak safaris, sunset safaris and even host school field trips and will rent out there facilities for private functions!  They have something for everyone.

We took their bus safari and were able to get up close and personal with a multitude of animals.  They even provided food so we could feed the animals!

Safari Wilderness Daniel

It is refreshing to see animals have plenty of room to roam.  These animals are definitely living the good life.

Safari Wilderness deer

When I say we were able to get up close and personal…  I mean up close and personal!

Safari Wilderness Wilderbeast

Wilderness Safari also has 3 different experiences you add to your tour.  You can either feed the Ring-Tailed Lemurs, feed the Budgies or feed a Guinea Pig Colony.  You can’t go wrong with any of these add on experiences!

Giraffe Ranch

Giraffe Ranch is a licensed working ranch that specializes in exotic species as well as domestic cattle and horses. You can learn about exotic animals from an expert guide from the comfort of specially designed 4-wheel drive vehicles, by camel-backed safari, or even by Segway. They now offer a Llama trek as well.

On of my favorite things was being able to feed a Rhino.  You read that right… A RHINO! This was an experience I will never forget!

Feeding Rhino's

Harry Otter definitely wins the cutest animal award!  I mean how can you refuse that face!

Giraffe Ranch Otter feeding

Giraffe Ranch also has different add on tours.  You can choose from Ring-Tailed Lemur feeding, Otter Feeding, a Camel mini-safari, the Rhino encounter and Bongo feeding.

Now the one thing my son was really looking forward to was feeding the Lemurs.  These little guys are so cute!  We were able to get in the enclosure and feed them grapes!  They just come right up and eat them right out of your hand!

Anytime we are in Orlando we have to go to Disney World.  Disney World isn’t just for kids you know.  We HAVE to get a Dole Whip anytime we go.  Not even negotiable.  This time we got a park hopper pass so we could hit all the parks and ride our favorite rides.

Disney Pandora family (1 of 1)

I would recommend as soon as you book your Disney Trip you get on and get your Fastpass for your favorite rides.  We waited in line for almost 2 hours for the new Pandora ride in Animal Kingdom because we didn’t have a Fastpass for it.  We went to the ride as soon as the park opened and still had that wait time!  We always try to finish off our day at Epcot.  They have tons of places to eat and IMO have the best fireworks display of all the parks.

Disney Pandora (1 of 1)

We have written about Disney many times before but this we were focused on Pandora, The World of Avatar as we only had one day to spend there. Even though we waited in line for 2 hours, the wait was worth it.

Disney put so much detail into this park that our photo didn’t do it justice! You literally walk in the area and you are transformed into the movie. You can take a ride down the Na’vi river into the rainforest or fly on the back of aBanshee of the Avatar Flight of Passage Ride. Make sure you check out our Money Saving Disney Tips in Orlando post.
