RedRock RV Park Near West Yellowstone
We have seen RedRock RV Park in bright sunshine and a brief snowfall, and one evening here led to a new obsession: roasting Rice Krispies Treats over our Solo Stove. The spacious sites and clean facilities stood out during our stay. RedRock is in Island Park, Idaho, outside Yellowstone National Park; here is what we enjoyed and what to check before booking your own visit.
Sometimes the parks can get really crowded and the last time we visited Yellowstone we stayed in Cody, Wyoming. We loved staying right outside Yellowstone because the drive to Yellowstone was beautiful and we saw quite a few bears. Because we had such a good experience last time, we decided to try staying outside of West Yellowstone this time. Staying outside the park forced us to check out places other than the National Park and boy am I glad we did.
The large grassy spaces with full hookups worked well for our RV during our visit. The bathrooms and showers were spacious and spotless, and the laundry room had puzzles, books and DVDs to borrow. Those are our observations from the stay; check the current site map and facilities for your dates.
We have been blessed to see this RV park in two different ways. We’ve enjoyed bright, sunny days here with breathtaking views all around. We’ve also experienced a stunning snowfall that was short-lived, melting almost as quickly as it arrived.
I had a hankering for some s’mores, but had a crazy idea! We got out our Solo Stove and decided to try our hand at roasting Rice Krispies Treats! I think I just found my new obsession!!!

Facilities we considered for an RV stay

The laundry and on-site store can make an RV stay easier. If you need to work online, ask about current connectivity and have a backup rather than relying on a guarantee of strong Wi-Fi across the park.
Proximity to Yellowstone from RedRock RV Park
RedRock is outside Yellowstone, on the Idaho side of the West Entrance approach. Check the actual route from your campsite to the entrance and then onward to your planned sights; reaching the gate is only part of the journey. Allow for entrance queues, wildlife traffic and road work. Check NPS road status and seasonal access before setting out.
