We stayed at the RV park. The RV park has two sides. The northeast side which is closest to the springs has both electricity and water. the side farthest away from the springs has only electric hookups no water but has a beautiful view. This side also has a dumping station as well as a place to fill up your water tank before you park. Each site is equipped with tables and fire rings.

Yellowstone Hot Springs offers RV, camping, tent, camping and cabins. Our site had a beautiful view of the mountains as well as the Yellowstone river. There are regular wildlife sightings at this RV park. So keep your eye out for elk and deer, you might just get a close-up look.

On our trip, one of the recommended dining experiences includes driving to the Old Saloon in Emigrant, Montana for a taste of local history and entertainment. Their Chicken Fried Steak is hands down some of the best we’ve had in a while—crispy, flavorful, and just perfect. And for dessert? The Cheesecake with Huckleberry sauce was a delicious treat to end our meal.

Huckleberries are the State Fruit of Montana. As you journey through Montana, make sure to indulge in the delightful array of huckleberry-flavored treats. Whether it’s a refreshing drink, a mouthwatering dessert, or even a soothing soap or lotion, you’ll find huckleberries infused into everything. Huckleberries are typically harvested mid to late August. Finding wild huckleberries is challenging, often requiring climbing and searching for the bushes in remote areas. These little berries are a true Montana staple, adding a unique and delicious twist to your adventure!

The live music at the Old Saloon added such a fun vibe to the evening, too. Highly recommend checking this place out if you’re in the area! These natural 104-degree mineral water pools offer relaxation and recreation, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. There are both cold and hot Springs with showers so consider bringing a change of clothes!

While at the Yellowstone Hot Springs, you have to do a Kneipp Walk. You do a mixture of hot and cold water seven times. I noticed every time you go around it you’ll feel a tingling sensation that goes up your body because of the blood flow. After that, you’ll want to do the cold and hot plunge. I had been having problems with my knee for the past several months. I can tell you that my knee probably felt 90% better when I got out of the Hot Springs for the rest of the evening.

If you’re looking for another hot spring experience, Chico Hot Springs at Chico Resort is a great option. For just $10, you can enjoy the warm natural waters, poolside amenities, live music, and even grab a bite to eat. Remember to exercise caution around these natural thermal features. So come on over, kick back, and soak up the soothing vibes of Yellowstone Hot Springs and Chico Hot Springs.

E-biking excursion with Big Sky E-Bike Tours and Rentals

We had an unforgettable e-biking excursion with Big Sky E-Bike Tours and Rentals in Gardiner, Montana! On the Bike n Soak tour we planned to cycle a total of 20 miles from Gardiner through the Park and Yankee Jim Canyon. This excursion offers ample opportunities to spot elk, mule deer, bison, and other wildlife along the way. Be sure to dress warmly and in layers that you can easily adjust, as the weather can be quite unpredictable early and late in the season. Carrying a rain jacket or outer shell is advisable, as it provides protection against any sudden showers, ensuring you stay dry throughout your journey.

The Guide Can Make or Break Your Experience

The scenery was breathtaking, but what truly made the trip special was our incredible guide, Jay. He was so personable and took us on trails you wouldn’t normally explore on your own. We saw Big Horn Sheep, Osprey, and herds of Elk—such a unique experience! We enjoyed a lovely picnic lunch of Boarshead sandwiches under a shaded tree with a stunning view of the Yellowstone River and mountains. The food was provided as part of the tour. But the highlight (and lowlight) of the trip was my crash landing due to my uncoordinated self. I was pretty banged up, but Jay was amazing. He had us stop while he drove back to get his truck and drove us back. Thankfully, it was right at the end of our ride, so I didn’t miss much.

Even though I had a minor slip-up, I want to emphasize that this is a CAN’T MISS excursion. Jay’s personal touch made the experience unforgettable. He even gave us a book on wellness that we connected over. After the ride, he took us back to the Hot Springs for a long soak and great conversation. If you’re planning a visit to Gardiner, Montana, you absolutely have to book this excursion. Highly recommend!

Daniel and I did a 6-mile hike in the Lamar Valley With Yellowstone Hiking Guides. We saw 6 Grizzlies, as well as Buffalo and Pronghorn. Our guides were awesome, and we had a nice picnic lunch by the river. Our guides showed us some great rockhound finds (which we put back).

Also while on this hike we saw a family hike right up to a Bison herd and stood in the middle of the herd while they walked all around them. Super dangerous! Please don’t put yourself in danger to get a wildlife shot. During the winter season, Gardiner becomes a hub for Yellowstone vacations, offering limited park access but incredible natural beauty. Check road conditions before heading out on a trip through Paradise Valley towards Red Lodge.

Traffic speeds in the park are generally limited to a maximum of 45 mph. On Route 191 on the west side between Big Sky and West Yellowstone the limit is 55 mph. In many areas, the speed limits drop to 35 mph or even 25 mph. Plan a lot of time to avoid rushing. It’s not worth endangering an animal or another person.
