What is Barkcations: Barkcations is a mix between traveling with your dog while still enjoying your normal vacation plans.
Branson is such an amazing place to visit with your family but did you know that it is also dog friendly? We have taken many family trips to Branson but we hated leaving our fur babies at home. Now that we have started Barkcations, we are planning most of our trips around dog friendly locations. Below we’ve outlined the trip we took and all of the dog friendly activities in case you were thinking about planning your own trip.
Where to Stay :
One of things I find most difficult when taking a Barkcation is finding the prefect dog friendly place to stay. Will the dogs bother neighbors next door, will there be plenty of potty spots and how high are the pet deposit fees. When planning our Branson trip and looking for pet friendly Branson Mo. hotels, I literally stumbled upon a gem of a place called Memory Maker Cabins.
The cabin was gorgeous and had plenty of room for our family of 5 and 2 dogs. In one of the rooms was a full sized bunkbed. The girls had the fun of sleeping on a bunk bed that wasn’t your traditional twin size and slept comfortably. Ryan had his own room for the first time and Daniel and I had our own room. I loved the humongous tub in our bathroom. We had planned long walking days on some of the days so it was nice to come home and soak in a hot tub.
The cabin had a nice sized living room and kitchen where we saved money by cooking some of our meals. There was a huge deck in the back that led down to a play park and some walking trails. We loved all the old wagons and the rustic feel of this cabin.
As you can see the dogs loved the area. Boomer and Chloe both loved the long walks on the trails and we didn’t have to worry about bothering any of our neighbors. If you have small children the playground is located right behind our cabin which is very convenient. We stayed at Cedar Cove Cabin at MemoryMakerCabins.com
What to Do:
Top of the Rock Cave – The Top of the Rock Cave was actually an unplanned stop for us, we didn’t find out about it until we passed by it on our way to our cabin. This is one to put on your must see list. Hop aboard an electric cart for an exhilarating two-and-a-half mile nature trail journey, which overlooks Table Rock Lake.
You will be surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of the Ozarks with natural rock formations and waterfalls. Not to mention Top of the Rock Lost Canyon Cave which is a jaw dropping four stories.
Arnie’s Barn at Top of the Rock – While you are visiting Top of the Rock make time to have lunch at Arnie’s Barn located inside the facilities. Named in honor of Arnold Palmer, Arnie’s Barn offers stunning views of the Top of the Rock golf course and a truly unique collection of golf memorabilia.
Silver Dollar City – Silver Dollar City has something for everyone. You can watch a blacksmith work, a glass blower make beautiful pieces of art and get your very own handmade basket. There are tons of shops and great places to eat.
I recommend going when they open because traffic backs up big time. Once your inside though it’s not that big of a deal. The food there is amazing so make sure you leave plenty of room for some old fashion down home cooking. I also recommend hitting the bakery on the way out and taking home some cinnamon rolls.
Most Popular Rides:
- The Powder Keg -This is one Scary roller coaster.
- Outlaw Run
- Wild Fire

Country On The Lake, presented on most noon and Sunday cruises, is designed as a “Party on the Lake” concert cruise, featuring multi-talented rising country stars performing #1 hits from yesterday’s classic rock to country favorites of today, backed by a live band.
The show includes hits celebrating lake summer fun by stars such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Little Big Town,
and Craig Morgan, plus some of classic country’s most memorable songs from artists including Reba
McEntire, Garth Brooks and Brooks & Dunn.
