Dog-Friendly Fun at Bass Lake: Kayaking at Miller’s Landing
If you’re visiting the Yosemite area and looking for a peaceful spot to relax with your pup, Bass Lake is a must. Just a short drive from the south entrance of Yosemite National Park, this scenic mountain lake offers clear water, tree-lined shores, and plenty of outdoor activities. One of the best places to enjoy it all is Miller’s Landing Resort, located on the lake’s south shore.

We spent the day kayaking with our dogs, Tilly and Chloe, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip.

Kayaking with Dogs at Miller’s Landing
Miller’s Landing is known for being dog-friendly, and they mean it. Not only are dogs welcome to join you on kayak and boat rentals, but they also have a dog-friendly food menu so your pup can enjoy a treat while you grab a bite. The staff was incredibly welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed for a safe and fun time on the water.
We rented kayaks for a peaceful paddle across the lake. Tilly and Chloe were naturals, lounging up front while we explored quiet coves and watched birds skim across the surface. The calm waters of Bass Lake make it ideal for beginners or anyone bringing a dog along.

Safety First: Bring a Life Jacket for Your Dog
Even strong swimmers should have a properly fitted dog life jacket while kayaking. Bass Lake can get deep quickly, and a life jacket ensures your pup stays safe if they jump or fall in. Miller’s Landing provides life jackets for people, but you’ll need to bring one for your dog or buy one before your trip.

More Than Kayaks: Boat Rentals and Cabin Stays
Miller’s Landing offers a full lineup of rental options, including pontoon boats, paddleboards, and jet skis. Whether you’re planning a relaxing day or something more adventurous, there’s a way to enjoy the lake that fits your style.
They also offer cozy cabin rentals, right on the south shore. It’s a great option if you want to stay lakeside and enjoy sunrise walks with your pup or sunset paddles.

Great Food with a View (and a Dog Menu Too)
After a day on the lake, we grabbed lunch at Miller’s Landing. Their outdoor dining area is pet-friendly, and the food is surprisingly good for a casual lakeside spot. Burgers, sandwiches, and salads are on the menu—along with dog treats and pup-approved meals.

Tips for Visiting Bass Lake and Miller’s Landing with Dogs

Whether you’re planning a half-day stop or a weekend getaway, Bass Lake and Miller’s Landing are perfect for outdoor lovers and their dogs.
