We found Kona to be full of history, culture, and beautiful natural sights worth exploring at a relaxed pace. If you’re looking for a great place to enjoy fresh seafood and tropical drinks, Papa Kona Restaurant & Bar is a must-visit. Located right on the oceanfront, it offers a casual yet vibrant atmosphere where you can savor delicious dishes with a view of the Pacific.

Lava Lava Beach Club
One of the highlights of our trip was a romantic dinner at Lava Lava Beach Club. It is located just 30 minutes from Kona. Sitting on the beach as the sun set over the ocean made for a magical experience. I had the delicious chicken pineapple rice served right in a pineapple, while Daniel enjoyed a perfectly cooked NY Strip. The food was incredible, and our waitress (though I can’t quite recall her name) was so friendly and attentive! Travel Tip: Arrive right at 5 pm to avoid the crowds that come later. If you’re not able to get a table, you can still enjoy the breathtaking sunset from the beach.

For a refreshing treat, head over to Bubba & Finn’s for some famous Dole Whip! It’s the perfect stop for a cool, sweet snack to enjoy as you stroll around Kona. The soft-serve pineapple treat is a local favorite and a great way to beat the heat.

One of the highlights of our trip was snorkeling with Sea Quest at Two Step and Captain Cook. The coral reefs were teeming with vibrant fish, and we even spotted a sea turtle. Exploring sea caves and seeing a pod of playful spinner dolphins made it even more memorable. The Manta Ray Snorkel was a dream, with gentle manta rays swimming right up to us in crystal-clear waters.

For a more active experience, visit the Kailua Pier, a popular spot to rent paddleboards, where the calm waters are perfect for beginners. You may also take a boat tour, or enjoy a peaceful stroll with views of the waterfront.

The show was absolutely amazing, filled with traditional Hawaiian music, hula dancing, and a captivating story of the islands. The buffet was equally impressive, offering a variety of delicious Hawaiian dishes that perfectly complemented the festive atmosphere. One of the highlights of the evening was watching the King and Queen arrive in a beautiful boat. It was a truly regal entrance. To top it all off, we were treated to a breathtaking sight—a rainbow over the ocean as the sun began to set. The Island Breeze Luau is a perfect way to enjoy authentic Hawaiian culture while taking in the beauty of Kona’s coastline.

Pololu Valley Lookout and Black Sand Beach

The ocean in that area is rough and swimming isn’t recommended.
