Travel Dallas with Comfort Inn and Suites

Sharing is caring!

If you looking to plan a family vacation or just a quick weekend getaway , picking the right hotel can make a big difference.  It can make a good vacation a great vacation or a great vacation a bad one.  So when we are planning our getaways we always look to see if we can stay at a Comfort Inn and Suites.

Comfort Suites Lobby

On our getaway to the Dallas area we always stay at Comfort Inn and Suite DFW N/Grapevine.  We like to stay there because it’s close to Grapevine Mills Mall and it’s a short drive to both downtown Dallas and downtown Fort Worth.  Not to mention downtown Grapevine.( we’ve stayed here several times)

Comfort Inn and Suites offer amenities such as:

  • Free airport transportation
  • Free wireless high-speed Internet access
  • Free local calls
  • Free newspaper weekdays
  • Outdoor pool, hot tub and fitness center
  • some rooms also offer whirlpool bathtubs

They also have a free hot breakfast featuring eggs, meat, yogurt, fresh fruit, cereal and more, including your choice of hot waffle flavors! If you’re leaving early, a Your Suite Success™ Grab It & Go bag is available for the two hours prior to breakfast.

Comfort Suites Bath Tub Comfort Suites Living Area

The room we stayed in had a HUGE  bath tub!  Which is a big plus for us.  Our room also had a living area with a couch so you could watch TV without having to sit on the bed!  A small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and desk rounded out our room.

Comfort Inn and Suites also thinks about the little things which can make a good vacation a great one.  Like a selection pillows that will that will maximize your “comfort” and plenty of USB and electrical outlet to keep your electronics charged.   They also offer a meeting space that can accommodate a variety of events and functions.

What to Do:

The Perot Museum

The Perot Museum is like no other museum I have been to. It features eleven exhibit halls, including 3D simulations, hands-on activities, interactive kiosks and educational games. We watched Galapagos 3D which very interesting and educational. It’s like like several museums all rolled into one and it’s only $17 for an adult admission and $11 for kids. If you want to beat the scholar crown then it’s best to after lunch. Better yet you could hit their cafe for lunch which has wonderful food and then plan to explore the museum after.

They have a nice size planetarium with plenty of hands on stuff that is fun for kids yet educational for adults as well.

Perot Museum Astronomy

If you love dinosaurs then you are in luck because they have a room dedicated just for you!

If your a gem hound or you love to get your creative juices flowing they have several rooms that are amazing and fun for all ages.

This was a short trip for us so we spent most of our time at the museum, Grapevine Mills mall and the Galleria. There are a few other places we would like to visit on our next trip like the Dallas Zoo and Dallas Aquarium.

Where to Eat:

Medieval Times

Medieval Times

If you are tired of going to the same old places for dinner then Medieval Times is the place to go!  Not only will you get a great dinner, you will get a great show too.

Midieval Collage

The arena is divided up by colors and after you get seated you get introduced to your knight that will “fight” for your color.  The knights put on a great show while you are eating.  They joust on horseback then they continue their fight on the ground with swords, shields and even a mace! It’s pretty cool to be sitting amongst all the action.

Did I mention that you get to eat with your hands?  That’s right, no silverware!  The menu included roasted chicken, tomato bisque soup, roasted potatoes, spare rib and some garlic bread.  They also have a vegetarian menu.  You just need to let them know when you make your reservations.

Rainforest Cafe

Rain Forest Aquarium

Another place that you can go eat that offers something other than great food is RainForest Cafe.  This is a great place to bring the family. The restaurant is decorated like a rain forest.  There are all kinds of animals around the restaurant that will keep you and your family entertained.  The forest comes to life every 20 minutes with a thunder storm.  You will see lighting, hear thunder and all the animals will come alive! I recommend bringing your camera so you can get some great photos. I also recommend trying their sparkling volcano dessert , it is so good!

While you are there you need to check out their rewards program that they offer.  It covers all restaurants in the Landry restaurant group.  You earn points for each visit and you can use those points to get exclusive members-only rewards.  Also ask the monthly kids program that they offer.  So be sure to visit www.rainforestcafe.com and find a RainForest Cafe near you.
